I always have a wonderful time photographing Charlotte Weddings and this one was no exception. Last June saw me back in this great city for a wedding that still makes me grin almost a year later! Charlotte and David tied the knot at Christ Episcopal Church, with a reception at the gracious Charlotte Country Club. This was just one of those days – those rare days – when everything comes together organically, and every single moment is spent in the joy of joining lives and families. But that’s no surprise, because Charlotte and David showed up wanting to relax and have a blast I don’t think anything could have fazed them!
When I met Charlotte for her bridal session, I knew right away she would be a laid-back, fun bride. She was so excited to wear the same dress that her mother and grandmother did – she told me she had been dreaming of wearing it since she was a child. She also mentioned they planned on having 7 flower girls and ringbearers! It could be a big challenge to get that many tiny people down the aisle, but Charlotte had a plan: to play it by ear and let the kids be themselves. Her desire to include everyone and just let things play out made the day an absolute pleasure. Of course, there was a perfect main timeline for the wedding, but everything flowed beautifully, with room for delightful surprises.
While the bride and groom really set the tone, much of the day’s success is owed to the extremely talented Hall & Webb. It was wonderful to work with them again. I always know that the wedding will be incredible, which makes my job a lot easier and allows me to focus on the photos. I hope I captured the details faithfully – from the stunning lighting (which changed over the course of the evening) to the beautiful silver vases with flower arrangements at the reception. But, most of all, I hope I captured the spirit of this glowing couple and all their dear ones. Enjoy the photos!
After Charlotte had gotten dressed, her dad happened to be standing outside the door. So he just dropped in! There were no scripted or forced moments – just pure, organic joy.
The bridesmaids’ fashion was on point! The skirts were custom-made, and the flattering tops were from Tuckernuck.
Charlotte chose to display portraits of all three generations in the wedding gown – such a beautiful tribute!
I love truly excited couples – their genuine smiles, big laughs, their facial expressions. It’s very moving to me…the best part of my job.
